National Mahjong is played three times a week at the Robson Ranch Sports Center: Sunday at 1:00 p.m., Monday at 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Beginner classes will resume Monday, November 3, at 12:30 p.m. This game is often referred to as American Mahjong since every country in the world seems to have a version of this old Chinese tile game.
Mahjong challenges your brain matter and decision making skills. All players use a card that changes annually and provides new and challenging hands. Robson Ranch players have donated over $600 to local charities of their choice, just from ordering their annual cards as a group. National Mahjong players select a hand and play to complete it. Once this is accomplished the game is over and you have Mahjong! There is no carryover or complicated scoring, just make the hand in this pick-up and discard game.
Men and women play this fun thinking game. If you are interested in lessons, which is the best way to really learn the how to, contact Mary Beth Fisher at 520-371-0853 or email [email protected] to confirm a lesson. You do not need to purchase anything to begin learning.
