We want to thank everyone for the great outcome to our annual fundraising held in November 2018. We grossed $43,673 for the Auction, Bake Sale, Yard Sale and Golf Tournament and we couldn’t have done it without all of you! The Robson Ranch staff, all the wonderful volunteers, the bake sale volunteers, the gracious companies and individuals that donated to the Live Auction, the auctioneers, the SOT-AZ Board of Directors and the fabulous donations for the raffle! Wow! This will enable us to continue with our mission of helping the local veterans and their families all year along with some of the troops overseas. Our General Membership Meeting was held December 13 where we announced the results of the fundraiser along with nominating the new Board members. We then held our first Board meeting and the following are the new board members for SOT-AZ: President Dr. Tom Walton, Vice President Dan Conrad, Treasurer Pat Jegge, Secretary BJ Foster and Wayne Moritz, Esther Aar and Raymond Jegge as Directors.
On February 21 we attended the first Robson Ranch Club Fair. We will be reporting on that next month. We are excited to be able to inform the Ranch residents and other interested people on just what SOT-AZ accomplishes each year.
March, we will be giving new shoes to the veterans at the Pinal County StandDown to be held on March 16. Last year we collected donations of new socks from the residents at Robson Ranch and we had such a great response we gave out a minimum of three pairs of socks to each veteran and have enough to give out again this year. Thank you for your donations. We also give out gift cards to the women veterans to shop at Kohl’s. It is a busy day for the veterans to be able to see all the different organizations at the National Guard Armory to help them and some take advantage of the free showers and haircuts.
Upcoming boulevard flag flying days: Friday, March 29; Saturday, May 18 and Monday, May 27.
If you need a complete list of days, you may contact BJ Foster at 661-803-1967 for a list.
If you are interested in being a life-long member of SOT-AZ, it costs $25 per person and you can contact Dr. Tom Walton or BJ Foster. You do not have to be a veteran, just interested in helping others. We are always looking for people who want to help out and be a part of something wonderful and inspiring. Help us be a better organization. We thank you.
