December already? Where has the year gone? Almost all our quilters and sewers are back to enjoy our wonderful Arizona winter with sewing and quilting. Our little room is bursting at the seams with over 50 members! We still want you to join us if you are a quilter or sewer, and the more the merrier.
We have been sewing busily as we all complete BOM’s (Block of the Month) to be made into a charity or comfort quilt led by Barb Chmilar. Each person uses the same pattern but their own fabric, and the results are fantastic!
A full room of quilters completed a Spicy Spiral table runner in a variety of colors. We will repeat that class as it is a project that can be done in a day to enhance your home or a friend’s.
We had a Quilt ‘til You Wilt in November, sewing frantically to complete projects for the holidays and birthdays and such. Of course, we did take time to enjoy a bit of dinner and visit with each other, one of the things we do best.
Another fun project completed was a Santa hat purse taught by Patty Foley. From a Santa hat we made the cutest little purse, which will make granddaughters smile and giggle!
For those who are not familiar with the Robson Ranch Material Girls, here is a little about us. We welcome all residents and their house guests to join us. You can visit for two times before we collect your dues, which are $20 per year. With that money we purchase fabric and supplies to make comfort and charity quilts. Comfort quilts are given to our own Robson Ranch residents who have a serious illness or lose a spouse.
Please contact Bea Pressler at 520-858-5379 if you know of someone you feel might need one. This year our charity is The Chemo Center, which one of our members had used a few years ago. We also have an ongoing charity, The Senior Apartments in Eloy, making quilts for the new residents there after they move in. There are 30 apartments in all, there.
Our 2015 fundraiser is a queen-sized quilt called “Nature’s Jewels.” We are selling tickets for it; stop by the CAC and see it. It’s absolutely gorgeous! Tickets can be purchased from us in the CAC Studio 2, or from Dottie Welsh at 520-705-1667 or Bea Pressler at 520-858-5379.
We do lots of member-taught projects during our business year, which is November through April, always optional, of course. Come and sew with us; we have a lot of fun!
