Preparing Tin Foil Dinners with Essential Oils

JoAnne Gaudioso

Preparing a tin foil dinner is simple, delicious, and fun—whether you are venturing out in the great outdoors or staying home and using your barbecue or your oven. Here are a few tips and recipes for making tasty tin foil dinners your family will love.

Useful Tips

* Use heavy duty tin foil to avoid ripping.

* Place the food on the shiny side of the tin foil to help food cook faster and more evenly.

* Use cooking spray on the foil before adding your ingredients.

* Place meat at the bottom. Softer veggies like bell peppers and onions should be placed in the middle to prevent burning.

* Add more seasoning than normal. Mix seasoning into your meat and vegetables.

How to Wrap and Seal Your Dinner

Tear off a sheet of foil large enough (at least 12 inches long) to cover and seal your dinner. Place the food in the middle of the foil. Bring the long sides together in the center and tightly fold them together toward the food. Tightly roll up the shorter sides again, leaving an inch or so of space between the end of the fold and the food.

Create the Perfect Tin Foil Dinner

* Choose your protein: salmon, ground beef, chicken, steak, sausage, or shrimp

* Select veggies: mushrooms, carrots, onions, peppers, potatoes, or peas

* Choose your essential oils: marjoram, rosemary, thyme, lemon, basil, or oregano

* Use optional sauces: steak sauce, BBQ sauce, or soy sauce

A Favorite Fruit Dessert: Cinnamon Apples

Ingredients:

4 Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced

4 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon essential oil

Directions:

* Mix the apple slices with brown sugar and cinnamon oil.

* Divide apples into four portions on the foil and double wrap.

* Cook 10 to 15 minutes until softened.
