Calling all putters! Come and join the fun with our newest league, The Robson Ranch Mixed Putting League (RRMXPL). The mission of the RRMXPL is to provide friendly competition through organized play by using the practice putting green located at Robson Ranch Golf Course. We also strive to promote fun, friendship, camaraderie and social opportunities. The league is open to all residents of Robson Ranch. A golf handicap is not required.

Each event consists of a 12-hole course, with a Par of 2 on each hole for a course total of 24. The entry fee is $2 per person. Prizes are awarded for first through sixth places plus four additional blind draws giving everyone a  chance to win.

Players also have the option to participate in the “money hole” competition for an additional $1 per person. Everyone who enters the money hole competition and aces the designated money hole splits the money hole pot for that week. At our first event Carol Ilten was the only player who aced the money hole valued at $55, but she didn’t enter the money hole competition!

There is also an option once a month to try to “Beat the Pro” for an additional $1. Our very own Jay Wilson will putt the course before league play starts. Everyone who enters the Beat the Pro competition and beats Jay’s score will split the Beat the Pro pot.

We have already had two RRMXPL events, one on January 19 and one on February 2, with great success. We had 89 putters at the first event and 104 at the second event! Robson sponsored the first event with free beer and pizza. Members of the RRMXPL committee sponsored the second event, again with free beer and pizza.

Winners of the inaugural session of the RRMXPL on January 19 were: 1st place Carol Ilten; 2nd place Stan Lukasik; 3rd place John Sullivan; 4th place Dale Mumy; 5th place Ben Blissett; 6th place Kathy Holwick; 7th to 10th places (blind draws): Margaret Erickson, Bobbie Johnson, Russ Stocek and Dard Price. The money hole prize money of $55 was carried over to the next event. In the Beat the Pro competition, Pro Jay Wilson shot an even par score of 24. A total of six players split the Beat the Pro pot, all with a score of 23: Ben Blissett, Stan Lukasik, Larry Mansfield, Dale Mumy, Mike Pryor and John Sullivan.

Winners of the February 2 competition were 1st place Jim Baxter; 2nd place Craig Spittel; 3rd place Mike Stacey; 4th place Doug Connell; 5th place Patty Bruchez; 6th place Steve Anderson; 7th to 10th places (blind draws): Dale Mumy, Bob Brozek, Sharon McCreery and Cindy Sorensen. A total of four players sunk the incredibly difficult money hole putt worth $154: Marcia Tiefenthaler, Steve Anderson, Patty Glenn and Ron Hansen. Congratulations to all the winners!

Upcoming RRMXPL events will be held on March 2, March 16, March 30 and every other Thursday thereafter. The first shotgun generally starts at around 3:00 p.m. We will gather in the dining room afterward with food and drink available for purchase and prizes awarded at around 5:30 p.m. Get out your putters and come join the fun! Sign up in the Pro Shop or by emailing Nick Pike at [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
