Hats off to babies!

The Needlecrafters

Women from the Robson Ranch Needlecrafters group recently presented hats for 200 infants in foster care in Pinal County. Casa supervisors Donna McBride and Pam Burke received the hats, which will be given to the foster families who have taken in a baby from birth to one year old. These infants often go into foster families with virtually no belongings. The hats, which were made in all sizes from preemie to one year will stay with each child, and they can call it their own.

The Needlecrafter group meets once a week at the Creative Arts Center at Robson Ranch where they work on personal creations and group projects for charity. This is a small, relaxed group of women who enjoy reaching out to their community. Last year for Christmas they made lap blankets for a local nursing home, and the year before they made slippers for the food bank in Eloy. Recently they launched into chemo hats for women and children, which will be available in a local doctor’s office. They are also making small, cuddly animals for children in foster care. If you have yarn you would like to donate to this cause, please drop by the Creative Arts Center on Thursday mornings from 9:00 to noon. If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing or any other needle craft but prefer to work at home, you are invited to stop by any Thursday with your contribution. We always welcome extra yarn if you happen to be cleaning out a closet.

Our best advice to you is to “get crafty.” A study of 3,545 knitters worldwide found a link between knitting and happiness. The greatest impact was among those who knitted in a group.

Come get happy. See you Thursday mornings.
