Although Colored Pencil Projects on Wednesday afternoons started in October, participants were busy doing Christmas cards until January. The color pencil artists first wanted some guidelines before we started our major landscape project. A presentation on “Composition and the Rule of Thirds” was given and next was “How to Create Depth in Your 2-D painting.” Finally, a color wheel discussion ensued to help choose the colors for our landscape.
Not everyone needs to do the same project. One can come with any project in mind, but the leaders usually have some suggestions such as with our recent feather project. Any member of the Fine Arts Guild may join us on colored pencil day. Our minimum supply list is: regular pencil, white eraser (preferably a Pentel clic eraser which is a retractable pen-shaped eraser), Prismacolor Premier Soft Colored Pencil set 72 or larger, a Prismacolor Colorless Blending pencil, and Strathmore Colored Pencil Paper. If this isn’t enough supplies, don’t worry—we have suggestions for more. Most supplies can be purchased economically from online sources such as amazon.com, dickblick.com, or jerrysartarama.com, depending on what items are purchased and shipping costs.
All Robson Ranchers are welcome to drop in when there isn’t a class just to see what we do.
