Balance and strength classes available beginning October 15

Balance and strength. For most of us, balance happens automatically; we barely give it a second thought. But achieving and maintaining balance, especially as we age, is not that simple. Balance difficulties can come from multiple causes, like arthritis, issues with your feet, poor eyesight or even the inability to focus or concentrate. But the good news is that it is possible to improve your balance through strengthening and balance exercises that we will focus on each week. The first and last week we will be testing your balance to see if there is improvement. Fee is $30. Attendees are asked to commit to all classes for eight weeks. Registration required, sign up is available at the Sports Club. No drop-ins. Instructor is Lois Moncel, Fitness & Wellness Director, Certified Personal Trainer. Class starts on Monday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m.

What happens each week?

*You will be guided through exercises to help with your balance on the move and while standing.

*You will work on exercises to help build your muscle and bone strength.

*Learn how to get up from the floor safely should you have a fall.

*Finally, at the end of the class, you will do some relaxation and stretching.

*You will be given an exercise sheet each week and are encouraged to do these exercises at home.
