The Roving Ranchers were off and roving again. On June 24, the Ranchers drove to Tucson, meeting up at a local McDonald’s on Catalina Highway. After we grouped together, we drove up to the top of Mount Lemmon. Although it was a hot day in the desert with temps in the upper 90s, Mount Lemmon temps did not disappoint. It was a cool 70 degrees with no breeze, and sunny with puffy white clouds. We had a group of about 50 Ranchers for lunch in Summerhaven at the Sawmill Run Restaurant. The Sawmill had allocated the entire patio for our group. The food was tasty and the service was phenomenal, given that we had so many people order at once. It was fun to meet new Ranchers and visit with neighbors who had been on trips before.
After lunch, many went up to the summit, taking the ski lift gondola. The views were spectacular. Others went to the gift shop for some shopping or homemade fudge!
The drive down the mountain was uneventful. We reluctantly transitioned through the mountain’s life cycles and returned to the desert heat.
If you haven’t joined the Roving Ranchers yet, please do so. This group of neighbors hosts more than 320 members who go places for fun, and just to get together to build friendships. Our next trip is to see Mick Adams and the Stones at the Silver Star Theater in Mesa for dinner and a show.

We look forward to seeing you on the next outing!
