The Robson Ranch community has an amazing array of crafting opportunities from pottery, fine arts, wood crafting, sewing, and glass clubs, but did you know there is also a gourd club? Yes, a club devoted to furthering the unique art of gourd art. In late January, the Robson Ranch Gourd Club conducted a beginners class for the curious and interested residents of our community. The class offered the unique experience of creating a design and painting it on a gourd. Under the expert guidance of the club instructor and helpful members, participants created their designs and finished it on a small gourd. Each participant was able to take home their very own treasured gourd art! From there, participants can make table top art, hanging art, or the famed thunder gourd. (If thunder gourds intrigue you, look them up on YouTube or stop by studio 3 at the Creative Arts Center). We will also be offering a thunder gourd and wind chime class in March for our members! However, if you just want to get started, we have regular beginner/orientation classes that include detailed instruction and a small gourd to take home. Cost is a mere $15. If you are interested in taking a beginner/orientation class, please email Doris Betuel at dorisbetuel@gmail.com. We would love to show you the fun, creativity, and joy of gourd art!
