The Robson Ranch Arizona Ladies Social Club awarded its 2015 scholarships at their May 13 meeting in the Hermosa Ballroom. The recipients of the three $1,000 scholarships were Alicia Giselle Bandala, Ingrid Camargo and Robert Martin Cevedia, Jr. Alicia and Robert plan to attend Central Arizona College in the fall, while Ingrid will attend Grand Canyon University.
The RRALSC Book Scholarship was instituted in 2010 and since that time has awarded $17,000 in scholarships to students from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School in Eloy. The primary criteria for the scholarships are academic achievement, financial need, graduation from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School, acceptance at any four-year accredited university in the State of Arizona, or any two-year college in the State of Arizona offering an Associate’s Degree.
All money for these scholarships has come from fundraisers such as the sale of cookbooks and calendars and a concert at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Casa Grande. It is not a 401(c)(3) organization and is, therefore, totally dependent on fundraisers and donations to provide the scholarships.
We ask you to save the date of Friday, November 6, 2015, for a true Mexican Fiesta in the Hermosa Ballroom. Coming soon after the Day of the Dead Fiesta, it will be a colorful celebration deeply rooted in indigenous culture featuring traditional food, Folklorico Dancers, a Mariachi Band, 20/80 Raffle and other raffle items. And of course, Margaritas!
Watch for more information on the RRALSC Scholarship Fundraiser. If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation to help these wonderful students achieve their goals and become the leaders of tomorrow.
As Lyndon B. Johnson said in 1968, “We believe, that is you and I, that education is not an expense. We believe it is an investment.”
