On May 6, Reading Between the Wines book club, which began November 2009, met at the home of Barbara Sewell to discuss the book, The Women, by Kristin Hannah. Like most of Kristin Hannah’s books, this one did not disappoint.

This historical fiction book takes place during the Vietnam War era. The main character, Frankie, joins the Army Nurse Corps; and as readers, we got to see first-hand experiences as she and her friends, Ethel and Beth, worked in the mobile hospitals in Vietnam only to come home to find a changed and divided America. It’s a novel about deep friendships and bold patriotism, and once you pick it up, you cannot put it down.

Why not form your own book club if you enjoy reading and discussing the book with others who enjoy it as much as you? You can start with only three people and soon your group will grow!
