Prepare for Surprises from the “Calendar Girls!”

Deborah Dorman, Producer and Director

If you haven’t yet purchased tickets for “Calendar Girls,” presented by Theater at the Ranch, your all-volunteer resident theater company, from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2, you should do it now!

Some prior shows have sold out, and prices are lower in advance. This comedy will both tickle your funny bones and tug at your heartstrings. Based on a true story, and written for the stage by the screenwriter, Tim Firth, from his movie of the same name, “Calendar Girls” is about friendship, love, loss, and how notoriety can affect those relationships. It is about a group of mature women who decide to produce a nude calendar to raise money for some decent furniture in a hospital waiting area, and the publicity that follows. Don’t ask how we’re doing thatit’s a well-guarded secret!

Starring in the show are Robson residents Peggy Lee, Brian Lee, Tizer Finer, Paul Jensen, Sue Brockhoff, Bobbie Sundstrom, Raul Salmon, Karen Dielmann, Mitch Smith, Annette Freund, Kristine Archuleta, Karen Plendl, and Donna Duran. There are also many residents working backstage on the production. Proceeds from the show are used for royalties and licenses, equipment, costumes, sets, props, HOA fees, makeup, scripts, printing, and more. The cost of any production can vary from about $2,000-$5,000 or more. No one from the group involved in the production receives compensation for their participation.
