Paper Crafters Provides Birthday Cards

Kathy Meyers

The Santa Cruz Village is a 30-unit senior independent living housing complex located in Eloy. This is a HUD program complex for lower income seniors. The requirements and procedures ensure that tenants receive the proper level of assistance and are treated fairly and consistently.

Our Paper Crafters member Amy Petersen delivered 32 birthday cards for staff to give to the residents to recognize their special day. It always feels nice to be thought of on our birthday, and these cards are made with love. Amy met with Ana Medina, who oversees the Santa Cruz Village apartments, and she greatly appreciated the cards.

A unique way to make a card: Have you ever wondered what to do with your empty tissue boxes besides recycling them? Some have unique designs. The Paper Crafters designed cards using tissue boxes as a background. It provided a different way to add dimension and color to a card.

Drapery cards: Our member, Georgia Brosnihan, taught members how to make the “Drapery Card.” This card uses layers of paper to create a drapery look.

Upcoming charity work: We are making Mother’s and Father’s Day cards for Eloy Police, Eloy Fire, Caliche Senior Living Community, and Copper Sky Assisted Living.

The Paper Crafters enjoy providing their creative cards to bring a smile to others in the community. We also teach members different techniques to make cards, and we have several supplies and tools for you to use. Come join the fun, meet new people, and laugh.

If this looks like fun to you and would like to join us, come to the Creative Arts Center on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Thursday afternoons from noon to 4 p.m. We have an annual membership cost of just $20.
