Material Girls Have Been Busy

Susie Klopp

What have the Material Girls been doing with all that fabric that you saw last month? Getting ready for the Spring Craft Fair, of course! Our members have been working awfully hard to have lots of beautiful spring and summer things. Be sure to come see us in the Hermosa Ballroom on Saturday, March 12. We have several items to help your homes move into spring and summer.

On sale day, we will have the 2022 Raffle Quilt in the lobby. Don’t forget to purchase your ticket for this beautiful quilt. The drawing will be at the Fall Craft Fair in November. All funds raised by the craft fair and the raffle quilt go back into our treasury to buy more supplies.

Our members have been busy with projects and classes. It’s a fun time in the studio with all our part-time people here as well as the year-rounders.

The Projects committee has been busy putting together interesting and fun classes for our members. You are never too experienced to learn something new.

Each month, our Block of the Month committee keeps coming up with fun blocks to work on. The aim is for members to make a quick block and when we are all finished, the committee has enough blocks for a quilt top. It’s quick and fun for us all. These blocks then become a quilt for our Comfort Committee to use.

As many of you know, we give quilts to Robson Residents who are going through a serious illness or to a person when they lose their spouse. We also supply the Eloy Police Department with quilts. They keep them in their patrol cars in case there is a need. We support the Children’s Advocacy Center so that the children in crisis have something of their own.

When the projects are done and we stand back, there are many pretty creations. They need to be finished so we can move on to the next project, right? Seriously, have you met us? It doesn’t matter what the craft is, we seldom have only one project in the works. Would you rather have us wandering the streets of Robson?
