Once again Robson Ranch, in conjunction with Rock Springs Church, will participate in Operation Christmas Child World-Wide Packing of Shoeboxes.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) provides shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to children all over the world who have never received a gift. OCC is a division of Samaritan’s Purse, a world leader in humanitarian aid. Last year over 11 million boxes were filled and distributed throughout the world. In 2019, Robson volunteers lovingly filled and packed over 2,800 boxes that found their way into the waiting hands of children in the Philippines and Central America.
This is an unusual year, and this year more than ever children around our world need to know they are not forgotten and they are loved. Just imagine seeing the look on the face of a child when they opened their very own box you lovingly packed for them. Many of the items in the boxes these children have never owned before. Things as simple as a toothbrush or a bar of soap are treasures.
Would you like to participate in this amazing ministry? There are several ways to participate:
1. Fill your own box: Boxes are available at the front door of the Douglas Home located at 5451 N. Pioneer Drive. Pick up your boxes, fill them with new items, and return them by Nov. 15.
2. Volunteer as a shoebox packer: There will be three sessions to pack boxes at the annual packing party in the Hermosa Ballroom held on Nov. 14-15. Sessions are limited in size and will follow strict COVID-19 state guidelines.
3. Give generously: We welcome cash donations to help cover the cost of shipping these boxes around the world. Each box costs $9 in shipping. Last year the faithful and generous giving of the Robson Community covered the shipping on all of the boxes that were packed.
