Best Gift Ever

Pastor Larry Sundin

I love Christmas. Now, there’s a number of reasons why I love Christmas. Like a lot of you, I love Christmas because I get to be with my family. This year is even a little more special in that we’ll be able to celebrate Christmas with all three of my little grandsons. I can’t wait to see the wonder in their eyes, hear their laughter, and just be with them as they get to celebrate with us for the first time. Another reason I love Christmas is all the trappings of the holiday that make it so festive. I love all the lights, the smells, and all the feels associated with Christmas. Our Christmas tree usually makes its appearance the day after Thanksgiving. Then it’s not too long before beautifully wrapped presents make their appearance under the tree. And I still get curious whenever I see a gift under that tree that’s marked for me. But the best thing I love about Christmas is what all the trappings of Christmas help prepare us to celebrate. And what they help us celebrate is what I like to call the best gift ever: The gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

This year, Rock Springs Church will celebrate “The Best Gift Ever” on Christmas Eve in the Hermosa Ballroom. We will sing some of the traditional carols of Christ’s birth, light the Christ Candle of the Advent Wreath, and then reflect upon all that God has given us in the birth of Jesus Christ: How God has given us His Son to be with us. How God has given His Son to lead us and help us. How God has given us His Son to fight for us and how God has given us an incredible peace that is found in the Prince of Peace. So, if you are looking for a way to rekindle your love of Christmas that’s found in the birth of God’s Son, then we warmly invite you to be our guest for a Rock Springs Christmas!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Our Rock Springs Christmas Eve Service will begin at 4 p.m., Dec. 24 in the Hermosa Ballroom. We would love to celebrate the best gift ever with you this year!
