Since 2004, Packages From Home based in Glendale, Ariz., has provided care packages to active-duty U.S. military personnel stationed or deployed overseas. Nearly 162,000 members of our armed forces are serving at Army or Marine duty locations and Air Force installations or aboard Navy and Coast Guard ships in foreign countries and U.S. territories or on the seven seas. The packages from home are filled with requested food, hygiene, and entertainment items to boost morale and quality of life.
On Aug. 1, Support Our Troops-Arizona (SOT-AZ) presented a grant for $1,250 to Packages From Home in support of their mission to show our military members that we acknowledge and appreciate their many sacrifices to protect and defend our freedoms. Not only does Packages From Home support our servicemembers, it has a secondary program initiated in 2015 called Bones From Home to provide handlers with non-issue items for the military’s K9 members.
Support Our Troops-Arizona thanks the Robson Ranch community for its generous support enabling SOT-AZ to provide financial grants to veterans’ organizations and community programs like Packages from Home. On Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, SOT-AZ will be hosting its annual golf tournament in the morning and its annual fundraiser auction in the evening.
SOT-AZ Needs You—Volunteers are needed to put on these events and other SOT-AZ events throughout the year. SOT-AZ membership is not required to be an SOT-AZ volunteer.
