On Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m., the Democratic Club of Robson Ranch will host a candidates’ forum in the Hermosa Ballroom. Whether you are Democrat, Independent, Republican, Libertarian, apolitical—democracy matters and you are welcome to hear these candidates. There is no charge to attend, although donations to help defray expenses will be accepted.
There will be a cash bar, light hors d’oeuvres, and the opportunity to hear from the following candidates: Joanna Mendoza for U.S. Congress; Julia Gusse for Arizona House; Elaine Aldrete for Arizona Senate; Jonathan Hill and Clara Pratte for Arizona Corporation Commission (utility rates); Terry Ruiz for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction (schools); Brian Matlock for Arizona Mine Inspector.
Pending confirmation as of Aug. 5 are: Katie Hobbs for Arizona Governor; John Giles (Republican) for Arizona Lt. Governor (Hobbs’ choice reported as of Aug. 5); Adrian Fontes for Arizona Secretary of State; Nick Mansour for Arizona Treasurer. Kris Mayes unfortunately has a conflict with a televised debate. Doors will open at 3:45 p.m. The event will be open to the public with an opportunity to register at Mobilize.org.
To say we “live in interesting times” is an understatement. This is the time to be educated in your voting decisions; to think about democracy; the rule of law; rising living costs; rising healthcare costs; the need for rational, humane immigration restrictions and reform; and many other critical issues. Vote for candidates who stand for and fight for what you need and care about. This is an opportunity to see and meet these candidates in person and make informed decisions when you vote.
