While one might think an off-election year would be less active, it’s turning out to be quite the opposite for the Democratic Club of Robson Ranch (DCRR). Monthly meetings now provide speakers and more time for discussion of current events, and the social activities are almost in full swing. Monthly Bunco games are a staple, and the group will be holding an “Oscar Night” party in early March. Also watch for notices about a wine and cheese event in the planning stages.

Attendance at monthly meetings has been climbing, and the club is working on a new brochure and logo, new signage, and has just launched a website at dcrraz.org (where you can find a member form). The club has approximately 130 members at this time. In addition to socializing with like-minded people, and having lively discussion about issues of concern as well as connecting with other organizations for action on the issues, the club provides community outreach activities. The DCRR holds a bake sale during each craft fair (November and March) and recently delivered a substantial check to the Parent Resource Center for the Eloy Elementary School District. All baked goods are homemade from scratch by over 30 bakers, and packaged attractively by club members the day before the fair.

Dues are $20 per person per calendar year, and the club welcomes Democrats, Independents, and anyone who supports democracy, the rule of law and Constitution, public education, equal rights, non-discrimination, women’s rights, the right to vote in free and fair elections, affordable and available health care, and more. The DCRR is not an IRS “political organization” and does not have a PAC. It does not fund-raise for candidates or do endorsements, but does provide opportunities to interact with candidates. DCRR aims to provide a safe and comfortable environment for socializing and discussion, to educate and inform, and to be a positive influence in the community.
