Water: Nectar of the gods?
We use water for swimming, bathing, fishing, in toilets, on plants, washing clothes and vehicles, cooking, and much much more. But what about drinking? Many of us give up water for other liquids, don’t we? Some just give it up because they don’t like the taste … hmm?
But did you know: Water helps to normalize body temperature; it lubricates and cushions joints; it protects the spinal cord and other tissues; it gets rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements; and it prevents dehydration in hot climates, during physical activities, when running a fever, or having diarrhea or vomiting.
We need to choose water over sugary drinks, when dining out, and during meals. We should be alternating a drink of water with a drink of an alcoholic beverage. Water boosts alertness and brain function; impacts cognitive function, emotional balance, memory retention, and mental clarity; helps prevent wrinkles and flaky skin; and increases metabolism. It also helps with a quick recovery from strenuous workouts and activities.
