Psalm 46:10
When things get a little crazy, and seem to be out of control, as they often do, we tend to want to do something. In an early book, Dr. John Maxwell had a chapter titled, “Don’t just do something, stand there.” That goes against our natural impulses. We feel like we need to do something to try to solve the problem. If we get lost, we go faster. In our world today, things are going in directions and in ways that are confusing, chaotic, wrong, and moving faster away from God. We tend to hurry up and do something, even something drastic. There are times when we do need to move into action. There are also times when we need to trust that God knows what is happening and will intervene at just the right time. The Psalmist understood this, and God assured him of it by saying, Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Psalm 46:10)
In this world of ours today that is engulfed in chaos and suffering, be assured there will come a time, that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10, 11 NLT). We can trust that at just the right time, the Lord will intervene, and everyone will receive their just rewards, and there will be peace.
