Susanne Perry and Debbie Olguin, Reading Between the Wines book club
Not only is Susanne Perry a resident here at Robson Ranch, she is also an author. The “City Streets” series takes place in the street community of the Pacific Northwest; and the book club, Reading Between the Wines, chose the first book of the series, The Runaway, as one of the books read in 2021. Susanne graciously attended the meeting of the book club at the home of Betsy Piatt and shared her experience in writing this trilogy.
In April of this year, Debbie Olguin chose the newest book by Susanne Perry, Swan Song, for the members to read. Taking place in Arizona, it’s quite different from the trilogy but equally well written. Once again, Susanne accepted our invitation to join in the discussion, and she didn’t disappoint!
“I sat frozen, immobilized in the driver’s seat of my gray, ten-year-old Prius. My hands gripped the steering wheel although the little hybrid wasn’t running.” The first two sentences of this book, Swan Song, grabbed you right away; you can’t put it down! As a reader, you stay engaged with the main character, Mara, as she deals with things life throws at you. Would you make the same decisions as Mara? It was something for each of us to ponder.
