Euphoria (/juːˈfɔːriə/ (listen)) is the experience (or affect) of pleasure or excitement and intense feelings of well-being and happiness. Would you say that you have experienced euphoria in your lifetime? Wouldn’t it be nice if all of your family and friends could experience this? When a person exercises, their body will experience an increase in endorphin levels. Endorphins are our body’s natural hormone that gets released when we are doing something that requires a burst of energy. It’s the endorphin release that contributes to the feeling of euphoria. Unfortunately, according to Psychology Today (Jan 2019), well-being appears to be in the decline in the U.S.
Do you know someone who needs a little more happiness in their life? I have a challenge for you. I challenge you to bring your neighbor to the Sports Club to try a new class or use the gym for the first time or go swimming in the pool. Encourage your neighbors to try something new, meet new friends, and just maybe you can be their inspiration.
And we are here to help! Our goal at the Sports Club is to encourage Robson Ranch residents at large to reap the benefits of a better lifestyle. Beginning on Jan. 20, we are launching a 30-day Wellness Challenge which will focus on three key components of fitness.
Sleep – Get at least seven hours of sleep per night.
Better Nutrition – No processed foods for 30 days. Cheat sheets and important nutrition information will be handed out at the pre-challenge review.
Daily Activity – Residents will be encouraged to participate in some sort of activity for 30 minutes every day for 30 days. This can include any type of physical activity and we will be posting ideas for workouts. Details will be given out at the pre-challenge review.
Look for details to soon follow through email blasts and on the Robson Ranch website. The challenge is on! If you have questions please contact me, Lois Moncel, the director of Fitness and Wellness at [email protected].
