Traditionally, stained glass creations are flat panels designed to be hung in windows, but going 3-D can also be fun! This month, members are learning how to engineer a prickly pear cactus sculpture during my Thursday evening classes. The challenge to creating a 3-D sculpture is in making sure the piece is constructed with strength and stability, since it is standing upright. After I designed the pattern for this project, I had to experiment with the construction so the sculpture is strong enough and can be left outside if desired. No watering needed for this plant!
Members come together on four consecutive Thursday evenings to work on their creations, with my instructions every step of the way. If you would like to learn the art of stained glass, send an email to [email protected], and Cynthia will send you additional information.
