Can it be October already? The Robson Ranch Singers may be the only ones here at the Ranch who believe it’s true. They’ve been rehearsing for their Holiday Show for the past few weeks and are getting in the spirit. The show dates of Dec. 10 and 11 are just around the corner!
The theme of this year’s Holiday Show is “Christmas Unwrapped: A Season for Giving.” With that theme, I asked our members to recall their Most Memorable Gift. “Memorable” could include the unexpected, the good, the bad … and the ugly. Here are a few:
“One year out in Africa, a fellow missionary, my “Aunt Grace,” gave me a can of green peas for Christmas because she knew I hated them. She was a tease and always said I was an S-N-O-T. I guess it takes one to know one!”—Doreen Rose
“I received clues one Christmas morning, directing me to look at pages of the encyclopedia. Inserted in each page—which was the entry for each country I would visit in my upcoming college Southeast Asia Concert tour—I found a $100 dollar bill and the next clue! It was my dad’s idea, showing support for this amazing upcoming trip, so it was thrilling and I felt very loved.”—Beth Forbes
“My favorite Christmas gift came from Santa in 1957—a set of three large story books to share with my siblings: “Animal Stories,” “Christmas Book,” and “Big, Big Story Book.” They were read often, well worn, and cherished; I still have all three of them! My love for books and reading started at an early age and continues today.”—Annette Freund
We hope you’ll mark your calendars now and plan to attend one (or both!) of our Holiday Shows Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Wednesday, Dec. 11. They’ll be held in the Hermosa Ballroom at 7 p.m. each evening. We’ll see you there!
