Robson Ranch Republican Club—Arizona Election News

Conrad Tolson

Our December guest was Alex Kolodin, Arizona Assembly LD-3 and 2026 candidate for Arizona Secretary of State.

Kolodin has sponsored a number of election integrity Bills since he entered the Arizona house in 2022, almost all of which have been vetoed by Gov. Hobbs; however, he said he was able to leverage the federal Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022 to get Hobbs to sign a Bill to resolve conflicts between Arizona election law and federal law on matters including election signature verification and chain of custody.

When asked what he, if elected as Secretary of State, could do without Hobb’s approval, he said he would be able to clean up voter rolls and set up election equipment testing requirements (example: Maricopa County hasn’t in some previous elections tested their election machines for accuracy prior to elections). If he gets elected, he plans on focusing on correcting problems and not on getting retribution for past irregularities. He also wants to re-introduce his Bill for the second time that would model AZ elections after the Florida model which has enabled that state to get quicker election results and avoid reoccurrences of their 2000 presidential election fiasco.

Kolodin concluded by noting that he is collecting signatures to run for Secretary of State in 2026. He estimates that he will probably need to get significantly more signatures than the minimum number required as those signatures will be counted by his opponent who is the current Secretary of State. (Persons wishing to sign his petition may do so by going to AZSOS.GOV/Equal).
