The Board members elected for 2016 are President, Kevin Rattey; Vice President, Paul Downey; Secretary, Dave Hudson; Treasurer, Eddie Peril; Member at Large, Butch Spiller.

Drone Information

Do you have a drone or received one as a gift this season? If so there are several things to be aware of pertaining to the operation of it. They include:

Registering with the FAA

Liability insurance; you are responsible for any damage to people and/or property.

Privacy laws for video recording

Public domain versus private property

Drones can be fun to fly, but there are restrictions in place as to where you can fly, how high and what you can video. It is up to the drone operator to know the rules and requirements for safe and legal operation of the drone.

Drone flyers are welcome at the Robson Ranch RC field (Harris Hawk/Cherry Rd), and members are always willing to lend a hand if you need some training or advice.

RC Flying Training

The club is continuing to offer free RC flying lessons. The lessons can now be scheduled for various times and days. Your instructor will work out a schedule with you. The club has the loner aircraft and equipment available for you to get involved at no expense.

We also have an RC Flight Simulator. This computer based flight simulator is located in the computer room at the Sports Club. It’s great for getting in some flying on those windy and/or rainy days. Beginners will also find it a great way to get in some practice time.

Field Improvements

We continue to make improvements to our flying location. The runway is being widened, and plans are being made to erect a safety fence. We also hope to add an additional covered workspace for the pilots very soon.

Club Scheduled Flying times: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Club Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Toltec Room of the Sports Club.
