The Robson Ranch Material Girls are beginning to prepare for our new very active season. Our first business meeting for this season is on Friday, November 4, at 9:30 a.m. There will be a social time from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. and then the business meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Not only are all members welcome, but also anyone interested in joining the group is welcome to come and find out what we have planned for the coming season. We are planning on Quilt Til You Wilt events on the third Wednesday of each month. We will start sewing about 4:00 p.m. and stay until the last member wilts and goes home!
We will be preparing to participate in the Fall Craft Fair on Saturday, November 19, in the Robson Ranch Ballroom. Many of our members have been making items all summer to raise funds to support our charity work. We will also be drawing for the winner of our 2016 king size raffle quilt. One lucky winner will be notified ASAP after the drawing. Monies raised from both the craft fair and the quilt that is raffled will be used to buy supplies for the following charity work that we do.
Last year as well as this coming year we are supporting the Family Advocacy Center for Children and providing the Eloy Police Department with two quilts for each police car for when they must remove a child from a home. These local community organizations have been so gracious in accepting our support, and our members love working on quilts as well as clothing items for children!
The Material Girls have supported the Eloy Senior Center for four years by annually providing a quilt or pillowcase to all of the residents. We also make comfort quilts for our own residents who have a serious illness or who have lost a spouse. Please contact either Marge Doughty at 360-739-9990 or Bea Pressler at 520-858-5379 if you know a Robson resident who might need one.
The Material Girls welcome all residents who have a love for sewing and/or quilting to join our club. Dues are $20 per year, and you can visit two times before dues are collected. Monies from our dues, profits from our raffle quilt ticket sales and the craft fairs support the purchase of fabrics and supplies we need to fulfill our ongoing commitments to our charities.
Regular sewing days in studio 2 at the Creative Arts Center are Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you would like more information about the club or a tour of our studio, contact Ann Arthur, [email protected], phone 540-309-6412 or Mary Syer, [email protected], phone 610-613-6161.
