Our book club, Reading Between the Wines, meets the first Monday of every month at a member’s home. This month the group decided to do something different—hold our meeting on the patio of the Hermosa Ballroom. With appetizers, dessert and of course, wine set up under the patio, we gathered around the sitting area to discuss the book. The stars in the sky, the lighted trees and the beautiful patio added to the ambience of our evening.
The book, The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin, is a love letter to the world of books and bookstores. Located on Alice Island, Island Books is the bookstore owned by A. J. Fikry, which has a sign over the porch reading “No Man Is an Island; Every Book Is a World.” This bookstore is where A. J.’s life started with his wife Nic and changes when a special package appears in the store one evening. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry is an unforgettable tale of love and second chances, affirming why we read and why we love. A great read for everyone!
A special thank you to our banquet manager, Heather, for helping plan and for setting up for this wonderful evening. She is available to help you plan your events/club meetings, too. Email her at [email protected].
