Doris Betuel
We are excited to introduce you to Connie Drew, our Fused Glass Club member of the month! Connie and her husband, Bernie, moved to Robson Ranch from rural Indiana. With a background in chemistry and laboratory medicine, fused glass was certainly not foremost in her comfort zone. However, one of the best things about Robson Ranch is the opportunity to try new and different things. She ventured into fused glass to explore the artsy side of life. Not knowing where to start, she started at the beginning, getting help from more experienced members, learning and becoming braver and more confident in her skills.
Since moving here six years ago, Connie also has tried many other new activities, including golf, the Robson Singers, mahjongg, paper crafting, the Rock Springs Church Mercy Team, and most recently, drumming. With her new love of drumming, she and three other musicians have formed Robson’s only all-girl band, The Girls Next Door.
During the COVID shutdown, Connie also started upcycling bowling balls to garden balls. She says, “They certainly don’t blow away in the wind!”
Congratulations to our member of the month, Connie Drew! Her philosophy certainly fits her personal motto: Life is about taking chances, trying new things, having fun, making mistakes, and learning from it.
