Democratic Club Hosts Candidates’ Forum September 12

Deborah Dorman

On Thursday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m., the Democratic Club of Robson Ranch (DCRR) will hold a Candidates’ Forum in the Hermosa Ballroom. This event is open to all interested parties, all who would like to hear directly from the slate of Democratic candidates, whether you are registered as a Democrat, an Independent, not yet registered, or anyone else who has not yet made up their mind about who to vote for in the November elections. Everyone knows how critical these elections are, and it is best to be informed about who you vote for.

As of this writing, confirmations to attend have been received from Kirsten Engel, running for U.S. Congress; Keith Seaman, running for Arizona State House; Stacey Seaman, running for Arizona Senate; Ruben Gallego, running for U.S. Senate (in person, via TV, or by representative); Patrick Melvin, running for Sheriff; and the three candidates for Arizona Corporation Commission, Ylenia Aguilar, Jonathon Hill, and Joshua Polachek. Each will have an opportunity to speak and take questions, as well as mingle with the attendees.

There will be a cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres, for mingling before the speeches begin, and after, and a donation of $10 per person is being requested at the door to defray expenses. Please note that the DCRR does not have a PAC and is not fundraising for the candidates at this event (but personal donations may be made to the candidates as you wish). Approximately 70 people attended the club’s last candidates’ forum, and seating will be available at banquet tables (overflow chairs will be available). No RSVP is required for this event.

Information will be provided for those interested in joining the club. The Democratic Club of Robson Ranch is open to residents of the community who are interested in socializing with and sometimes discussing political issues with like-minded people, in a safe and friendly environment, as well as acting to support candidates, encourage voting, and participate in community and charitable events, such as the bi-annual bake sale to support the Eloy Elementary School District’s family liaison (Angela’s Closet). People have joined for any and all of those activities, whether registered as Democrats or not. There are eight or nine monthly meetings each year, four or five large social events, monthly bunco, and other activities. Dues are $20 per person per calendar year.
