The Casa Grande RC Flyers celebration of National Model Aviation day at their field raised money and supplies in support of The Casa Grande Food Bank. Past recipients of the clubs community service have also included The Wounded Warrior Project and The Valley Humane Society. The club hopes to do more to help give back to the community each year. The club has scheduled swap meets and fun fly events, allows both gas and electric aircraft, has a paved runway, a radio controlled car racing track and members receive area hobby shop discounts. The club also has food service, serving both breakfast and lunch food items at their events and welcomes everyone in the community to come out and enjoy their activities.

Robson residents wanting to watch the activities are always welcome. They can expect to see flying on most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting at about 9:00 a.m. Residents are especially welcome at the club swap meets and fun fly contests which are held on the second Saturday of each month, November through March. The club’s field has free parking, toilet facilities, and benches. A schedule of the club events and directions to the field can be seen on the club website at www.CasaGrandeRCFlyers.com.

Membership in the Casa Grande RC Flyers welcomes anyone wanting to fly, or learn to fly, radio controlled aircraft, not just Robson Ranch residents. Free lessons are offered by any of nine AMA certified instructors. The club even has a training aircraft and a flight simulator for new members to use. Membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is required because AMA membership provides the pilot with the required insurance coverage and also provides the pilots with a professional resource to get valuable information. Details about both the AMA and the Casa Grande RC Flyers are on the club website, which is listed below. The site also has a list of all club activities. Club members receive discounts on purchases in area hobby shops when their membership card is presented. The Casa Grande RC Flyers is an Arizona non-profit cooperation dedicated to exposing the joy of flying to the public and giving back to the community by supporting worthwhile charities. For more information about the club contact Alan Friedman, the club president and AMA Associate Vice President, at his Robson Ranch home, or visit the club website: www.CasaGrandeRCFlyers.com.
