A Heroes Invitation

Kathy Sinnott

The Arizona Heroes Memorial is currently under construction in Oro Valley. Briefly, this living memorial will honor Arizona residents who served (and serve) within the military, as well as those of the first responder and healthcare professions. Our heroes answered ‘the call of duty’ to secure our nation’s freedoms. Recently, our world has experienced further crises, reminding us how our nation must continue to work towards preserving our liberty, freedom, and safety. Undoubtedly, our heroes will rise to the call of these unprecedented times once again.

The Memorial’s building continues, with grading of the site almost completed. Watching the construction crews move at ‘full speed ahead’ mode, the anticipation eagerly grows for the development of the 90’ wide amphitheater, the 24’ lighted obelisk, and the ‘Pathway to Heroes.’ Its spectacular design, landscaping, and view of the Catalina Mountains will provide for unique educational and statewide functions. This location will be a place for tourists and residents to remember and learn about those Arizona heroes who helped build this nation; those who maintain our liberty and freedoms; and, those who are yet to shape our future. It is ‘Arizona’s Memorial.’

Arizona is home to approximately 1.5 million veterans, active military, first responders, and healthcare workers. The early phase of planning statewide activities and educational efforts has begun. We strive to make this Memorial as inclusive as possible, so we need to hear from you! Please submit information about a hero you know. We’d like to showcase these individuals and their contributions in future publications. Your hero’s sacrifices (and those of his/her family) are the reason for the Arizona Heroes Memorial. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please submit your brief story (and a photo, if desired) to: [email protected].
