Robson Volunteers Helping Local Animal Shelter

Friday, March 21, is the date of the 5th Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Valley Humane Society (VHS), held this year at Robson Ranch. Many paws up for Jane and Rich Johnson, residents of Robson Ranch, who have been the energy behind all five!

Rich and Jane are passionate volunteers for Valley Humane, and, in addition to spearheading the golf tournament, Jane works as a lead volunteer, walks dogs, and constantly updates the Facebook page with photos of dogs available for adoption. Rich has organized a solar energy initiative to help VHS lower future electric costs, and the two together have organized countless smaller fundraisers to help VHS buy dog and cat food, kitty litter, dog play yards, and grooming equipment and supplies.

Valley Humane Society is the only no-kill animal shelter in Pinal County and has been in business since 1966. VHS rescues more than 1,000 animals a year from area shelters and from owners who can no longer care for them, saving many from euthanasia. VHS receives zero funding from local, state, or federal agencies. It is 100% funded by private donations.

This is why Jane and Rich’s efforts are so valuable to VHS! The four previous golf tournaments raised more than $40,000, the most important and lucrative fundraisers each year. All of us are hoping that the fifth will be the most successful of all, allowing VHS to provide necessary medical care, vaccines, microchips, and all of the support that the current 183 cats and dogs in VHS care need.
