Since mid-September we’ve been meeting twice a week to be ready to present our Holiday show, “Christmas Unwrapped: A Season for Giving” on December 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. in the Hermosa Ballroom. With that theme in mind, we hope our patrons will bring nonperishable items or checks made payable to the Eloy Food Bank as they attend our shows.
And again, in keeping with our theme, I asked our members to recall their Most Memorable Gift. “Memorable” could include the unexpected, the good, the bad … and the ugly. Here are a few…
I had wanted to be a nurse like my big sister, but then Santa brought me a toy typewriter which must’ve changed my mind. My career ended up being a legal and administrative assistant over the years!—Irene Horn
I remember when I wanted a Chatty Cathy so badly and I finally received one for Christmas. It was so exciting to me to be able to get this doll when my parents really didn’t have a whole lot of money to get us a lot of Christmas gifts. But that one was so very special to me.—Karen Dielmann
I was about 5 or 6 years old when I was surprised with a lovely Christmas gift from my Dad—and as the only daughter (with five brothers), receiving a “special Christmas gift” just from Dad meant the world to me. To my delight it was a box filled with several child–sized purses—a beautiful red velvet one, a black patent leather one, and a black velvet one with a gold chain. Such a fond memory of my Dad and the deep emotion of what it meant to feel a father’s love for his only daughter at Christmas!—Vera Cannella
The holiday music our directors, Laurie Laramie and Beth Forbes, have chosen is perfect for the theme and we are sure our show will put you in the holiday spirit. We look forward to seeing you on December 10 and 11. Until then, Happy Holidays!
Announcement, Announcement, Announcement!
We’re moving our “ticket” sales process to the 21st century! Reservations to our Holiday show will now be available at the Robson Ranch HOA website under “Events.” They’ll be charged to your HOA account (admission is still only $10—there will be no actual tickets issued). Non-HOA members can visit the HOA office or call 520–426-3345 and press “0” to make reservations or ask an HOA member to make the reservations on their behalf.
We’re hopeful you’ll find this new process convenient and will go to the HOA website starting Nov. 1 to make your reservations. We’ll see you there!
