On April 4, the Robson Ranch Radio Control (RC) Club held its last social event of our winter season. This included our annual Rib Cook-Off, season-ending awards, and presentation of our Wings and Wheels Outreach Grants.

The first grant of $800 went to the Civil Patrol (CAP) of Eloy, under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Robert Flynn, Composite Squadron 131. This grant provides funding to engage the Cadets with activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.). Products, including robotics and rockets, expose the cadets to programming, engineering, construction, coding, and electronics opportunities, enabling participants to meet future challenges and goals.

A second award of $1,850 was given to the Eloy Food Bank Kids Snack Pack Program for the 2024-25 year through The Hope Coalition Eloy. Alice Brown is the director. This program feeds children ages 5 to 18 through distributions made twice monthly from a request made by the parents with children living in Eloy. Ninety-nine percent of the children living in Eloy are eligible for a free lunch in the public schools.

The Eloy Food Bank lost their funding for the Kids Snack Pack Program, and with the Award from the Wings and Wheels Outreach, it will be able to continue feeding children for a year. Alice informed us that with the assistance from St. Mary’s Food Bank Arizona, coupled with our donation, we will be able to help more Eloy children not go hungry.

The award was presented to the Eloy Food Bank and Director Alice Brown on April 5.
