Line Dancing Growing in Popularity

Line up for fun at the Community Line Dance Party on April 25!

Who can forget the line dances to Billy Ray Cyrus’ song “Achy Breaky Heart” or Brooks & Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” when country line dancing peaked in the 1990s? And everyone knows the “Electric Slide,” which is danced at almost every wedding. Today, line dancing can be done to any kind of music, such as hip-hop, pop music, and of course the still popular country-western.

In the World Line Dance newsletter, more than 50 Arizona locations are listed where line dancing is taught; Casa Grande lists “various locations” in the entry! Robson Ranch Line Dancing Club has caught the “bug” and is quickly nearing 100 registered participants! To think that only five years ago, the club started with about 20 people. The success is due to the instructor, CJ, and her tireless work and dedication.

On Feb. 11, the club hosted its first Community Line Dance Party of this year. More than 110 dancers attended. Did you miss it? Not to worry! The second Community Line Dance Party will be held on Tuesday, April 25 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and dancing starting at 6 p.m. Like all club dance parties, it is free to all members (which is only $20 a year!) and $5 for guests.

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays for improver and intermediate dancers and Wednesdays and Fridays for absolute beginner and beginner dancers. Come check us out!
