Hello. Now that I have acquired the position of vice president of the Material Girls, my responsibility will be to submit an article each month to the Robson Ranch Views of Casa Grande, Ariz.
In February a new garment sewing group kicked off. Each member selected a pattern. Then the fun started as we were measured and started altering our patterns using two different methods. One is the tissue fitting method. Tissue fitting is just that. It’s the process of using the actual tissue pieces and fitting them together as a mockup. Yes, you can wear paper. You can use this method with whatever pattern you want to make.
The second method is called Sure-Fit-Designs. This is a pattern system of fitting, sewing, and designing. The resulting sewing patterns will fit your unique body shape and dimensions. You can sew with knits or cotton and always be assured it will fit.
With either method, once your pattern is altered and drawn you then use muslin to make your garment. This allows for any changes that may be necessary before cutting your fabric.
