The City of Casa Grande is seeking Amateur Chefs, Chihuhuas, Horseshoe players and Jalapeno competitors for their second annual Viva Grande event. The event will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Paul Mason Sportsplex. Pre-registration is required for all activities. Activities will take place during the Viva Grande event. Spaces are limited, so register early!
The Salsa Challenge gives individuals an opportunity to show off their “famous” salsa recipes and compete for the title of “Casa Grande’s Best Salsa.” Entries will be judged in three categories: hot, mild and most unusual. Event attendees will also have an opportunity to vote for their salsa of choice, and the People’s Choice winner will be awarded a $250 cash prize.
Ay, Chihuahua! Fashion Show!
All Chihuahuas, their companions and their fans are invited to join in the fun! Chihuahuas will be judged in three categories: cutest, most original Chihuahuas and the best Viva Grande theme.
This is an open doubles tournament. All ages are welcome. A $100 cash prize will be awarded the championship team.
Jalapeno Eating Contest
Can you handle the heat? Eat your way to FLAME! Contestants will have three minutes to consume as many jalapenos as possible…it’s that simple! A $50 cash prize will be awarded to one brave soul!
