‘Twas A Dark and Stormy Night

Well, it wasn’t very dark when it started, and it certainly wasn’t stormy (this is the sunny desert after all!), but the ghouls, ghosts and goblins of Robson Ranch were out in force on Monday, October 31, looking for a few bingo tricks and a mouth-watering array of buffet treats.

This year many attendees really went all out in expressing their Halloween “inner child” dressing up for the costume contest. Several attendees were completely unrecognizable! First prize was nabbed by the cleverly creative combination of Mary and Doug Lizotte as the milkman and the pregnant housewife. Second place went to the husband and wife team of Dale and Candy Shinman. Dale was decked out as a pirate with Candy as a pretty butterfly. Even the wait staff got in the spirit by dressing up in costume.

Prior to the judging, guests dined on appropriately named Halloween fare. First came a salad bar, followed by a “witch’s cauldron” of green chile pork stew with flour tortilla accompaniment. Entrees included steak on a stick (beef kabobs with blood red pepper sauce) or “mummy” chicken (chicken breast wrapped in phyllo dough) and rolls with butter. Dessert was, of course, an assorted candy bar bowl.

As always the dinner was followed by rousing games of “BOO Bingo” enthusiastically called by Banquet Manager Heather Hardesty. Monthly bingo dinners are one of the most popular attractions for homeowners and are a great way to get to know your neighbors in a relaxed and fun environment. Tickets are always on sale at the Sports Club.
