News from the Robson Ranch Ladies Social Club

Ruby Herman and Alicia Mooney

We are now preparing for our Silent Auction, which will be Monday, Dec. 9 during our monthly gathering beginning at noon. All residents are welcome to join us in the fundraiser. The money will go towards the Book Scholarship Fund.

The club is seeking a new secretary to begin in January. Training will be provided.

If you are interested in this position, please contact Debbie Maxwell at [email protected] or Laura Schaible at [email protected].

At our October meeting, we had a very interesting presentation by Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Shoebox. Beverly and Dave Douglas have organized this charity at Robson Ranch for the past few years. They started this program out of their house and now have grown so large that they us the Hermosa Ballroom for their packing party.

Operation Christmas Shoebox collects gifts for children, ages 2-14, and distributes them to around the world. These gifts are an expression of God’s love to the children. For many children, this box is the first gift they ever received. Items that can be included in the shoeboxes are: small toys, school supplies, flip-flops, clothing, socks, balls, personal hygiene products, and even tools for the older children.

This year, Beverly estimates that 2500 boxes will be filled. Items for this program are donated by local businesses and private residents. This program was started in 1993 by Samaritan’s Purse and the Rock Springs Church organizes it today in our community under the guidance of Dave and Beverly Douglas. Monetary donations are also needed to ship the boxes overseas.

The Robson Ranch Ladies Social Club’s mission is to provide opportunities for the social interaction among all its members who are residents of Robson Ranch Arizona, to provide philanthropic donations to our community, and to educate ourselves about our local area/region. We are always happy to welcome new members to the club. We meet the second Monday of the month at 11 a.m. in the restaurant. Reservations are required. Please RSVP to Geri Nagy at [email protected].
