The Desert Woodcrafters launched into its third year of operation with a focus on building, learning and helping.

The club made great progress last year with many members learning new skills. This year there are even more opportunities for members to learn with demonstrations and “hands on” participation. In the next months there will be sessions to watch and learn how to make pens, cutting boards, lazy susans, solid bowls, wine stoppers, inlaying and building segmented bowls. Many members are giving of their time and experience to share new skills and ideas with other members.

Throughout the last two years of operation the members have completed big and small jobs for not only themselves but also home owners, HOA clubs and the ballroom. The projects ranged from as simple as cutting a board for a home owner to building a shed for the Pickleball Club, display cabinets for the Golf Shop, storage carts for the Ballroom and serving boards for the Grill to mention but a few.

To make it more convenient for members we have stocked up on the more common woods used in our shop including Maple, Walnut, Purple Heart and Cherry. We also have a supply of the more exotic woods like Wenge, Bubinga and Padauk. These are all beautiful woods that will turn into creative works at the hands of the woodworkers.
