Support Our Troops update

In 2016 support for our local veterans is as grand as ever, and we have some needs that our Robson Ranch residents help with. Our current requests are:

1) Toiletries: It’s time to start your spring cleaning, and our local vets really need all those little toiletries that you’ve collected from hotels during your travels.

2) New socks for the Pinal County StandDown: Scheduled for April 2 at the National Guard Armory. We are in great need of new socks for our vets. Big 5, located in Casa Grande, is working with us to obtain 10 cases (10 pairs to a case) of men’s and women’s shoes and it would be great if we could get RR residents to provide a pair or two of new socks to go with the shoes.

You may contact Steve Anderson at 770-331-6198, [email protected] or you may deposit your unopened items (please place toiletries in a plastic bag) in the SOT-AZ container located in the Sports Center.

Your SOT-AZ donations at work:

1) Honor Flight-AZ: SOT-AZ Troop Appreciation Committee has been working with Honor Flight-AZ to pay travel expenses for a local 93-year old female veteran to travel back to the Washington D.C. Veteran’s Memorial, along with a caretaker. We will feature our honored recipient’s travel details and pictures at a later date.

2) Arizona Fisher House: SOT-AZ participated in the February 18 dedication ceremony for the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System based on our continued support to open this new facility.

Future plans:

1) Red Fridays: Very soon you will see a great many people wearing red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the “silent majority.” We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.

We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of Americans support our troops.

Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.

SOT-AZ is working on a customized red shirt for our Robson Ranch/SOT-AZ supporters. In the meantime let’s all wear red every Friday! All our troops will be ever so grateful.

If you have any questions or would like to become an active member of SOT-AZ, please contact BJ Foster at 661-803-1967 or [email protected].
