As the heat of the afternoon sun was waning and a slight breeze led to the beginning of a wondrous Arizona evening, Robson Ranch residents in the Sycamore unit started to gather at Wilcox and Buckskin. It was time for the seventh annual Block Party. With the help of Sycamore residents (and a few strays from the community) the party got started at 4:00 p.m. Music was provided by the Arizona Bopcats. Roasted chicken, salads, chips and rolls were provided by Flashbacks of Arizona City. Delectable cookies, bars and brownies lovingly made by Alicia Mooney, Linda Philpott, Jan Strycker and Karen Furu ended the meal on a grand note.

All participants were encouraged to dress reminiscent of the 50s and 60s. There was a contest won for best dressed. The audience voted Dixie Wachter with the coolest costume. She received a lovely metal flower made by Emmally Mercer. Other door prizes were awarded from raffle ticket winners that were included in the price of the ticket. Door prizes were provided by Bob and Karen Furu, Alicia Mooney, Ken Herman and Char Rule.

Members of the executive committee would like to thank everyone for buying tickets and attending this annual event. This event was the largest to date; we sold 244 tickets. Without your support we would not have been able to have the party. Due to the generosity of Flashbacks and our bakers, we were able to take extra food, cookies and drinks to the Eloy Vet Center. The next Sycamore Block Party will be in March 2016. To our winter residents, safe travels home. To our year round residents, stay cool.
