The Material Girls charities for 2015-16 are the Family Advocacy Center for Children, Eloy Police Department to carry one to two quilts in each police car to give to a child when they have been removed from their home and the Eloy Senior Apartments. The club has donated 92 quilts overall to the Family Advocacy Center for children.

Our club visited the Family Advocacy Center and County Attorney Lando Voyles spoke about the center. He started the Family Advocacy Center, and it has received the highest accreditation possible. One of our members said, “As I listened to the attorney, I was so moved and sad and so angry that people could do this to children. This is a really good charity for us.”

During this past year:

Sixty-seven quilts, school supplies, toys, toiletries, etc. have been given to the Family Advocacy Center.

Twelve quilts to the Eloy Policy Department

Six quilts to the new residents of the Eloy Senior Apartments and 24 pillowcases

Six comfort quilts have been given out to Robson Ranch residents since January 2016

Seventy-seven comfort quilts given out to Robson Ranch residents since 2011

The Material Girls welcome all residents who have a love for sewing/quilting to join our club. Dues are $20 per year, and you can visit two times before dues are collected. Monies from our dues, profits from our raffle quilt ticket sales and the craft fairs support the purchase of fabrics and supplies we need to fulfill our commitment to our charities.

We also make comfort quilts for our own residents who have a serious illness or have lost a spouse. Please contact Bea Pressler at 520-858-5379 if you know a Robson Ranch resident who might need one.

During the summer months the sewing room hours are limited. Please contact Ann Arthur at 540-309-6412 or email [email protected] or Mary Syer at 610-613-6161 or email [email protected] if you would like a tour of our facility or learn more about the group.

We would also like to thank Mr. Robson for all he has done for us that allows us to be able to do these things for our community.
