By now most of the snowbirds have returned to the Ranch. The year-round residents who traveled to visit family and friends during the summer months or went to the mountains to seek out cooler temperatures have also returned. The members look forward to renewing their friendships and sharing summer quilting/sewing experiences.

With a new season starting, the project committee has been busy planning a number of projects and events such as new quilting classes, Quilt Till You Wilt and social events. Some of the classes being requested are Christmas projects, small and large bags, a color class beginning quilts and a mystery quilt, new designs and days to construct our charity and comfort quilts. Members are encouraged to submit ideas, and the door is always open for new and continuing members to share their knowledge by teaching classes. Come to the Creative Arts Center (Studio 2) and see what’s going on; everyone would like to share what the project-of-the-day is.

The charity committee offered a quilt challenge over the summer, which will provide charity and comfort quilts for residents of Robson Ranch and our chosen charity. The challenge is to piece a quilt top, quilt/sandwich a top together or make an item for the Arts and Craft Show in November.

The raffle committee members have been busy over the summer piecing together the top for the new raffle quilt.

The Material Girls welcome all residents and their guests to join us. Dues are $20 per year; you can visit two times before dues are collected. Monies from our dues and profits from our quilt raffle ticket sales support the purchase of fabrics and supplies to make comfort quilts for our own residents who have a serious illness or have lost a spouse. Please contact Bea Pressler at 520-858-5379 if you know a Robson Ranch resident who might need one. The members also make quilts for people in need and worthwhile charities.

Next year’s charities include Eloy Police Department who would have two quilts in their car to give to a child when they have been removed from a home, a fire, auto accident, etc. and the Family Advocacy Center when children being removed from a home are taken here. We will also continue to support the new residents of the Senior Apartments in Eloy by giving them a quilt.

The sewing room is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday evening 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. For more information contact Karn King at [email protected] or 520-233-7833.

Come join us for sewing fun and fellowship.
