Lady Lynx club prepares for a busy season

Karen Furu

As the days become shorter and cooler, Lady Lynx Golf Club has returned to our Thursday afternoon tee time. Most of our snowbirds have returned to Robson Ranch eager to get back to challenge ourselves to hit long and straight. Or is it possibly to return to see old friends, get caught up with each other’s summer happenings and form new friendships?

The mission of Lady Lynx is to encourage women to either improve or learn the game of golf in a fun, relaxing atmosphere. Even though we adhere to the regulations and customs of golf, our members want participants to love the game and find enjoyment as each member plays nine holes. To that end members may meet for lunch prior to playing, join each other at the restaurant for a drink after playing or participate in one of our scrambles. Membership is open to any woman residing in Robson Ranch whether you own your home or are renting. Our tee time starts at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday. There is a sign-up log in the Pro Shop. You can complete the membership form online in Robson Ranch AZ HOA website. After signing up you will be placed on the email list. The email list is also used to inform members who have signed up to golf which group they will be joining that particular Thursday.

In December our club members participated in our Holiday Scramble and gift exchange on December 17. After a lively game of golf, members met at the home of Mary Lizzotte. There was great food and fun. Each member brought an ornament to exchange. The spirit of friendly competition continued as each of us tried to end up with the ornament we picked without it being confiscated by another member. There were many laughs and giggles as we got caught up in the fun of the ornament “exchange.” All of us left with satisfied tummies and smiles on our faces.

In January, our golf pro Jay will be meeting with us. Please mark your calendars for January 14. More details will follow via email. It will be a very informative meeting. If you have not had the pleasure of meeting Jay or taking a lesson from him, you will enjoy having this opportunity to hear him. Please join us on January 14, 2016.

As mentioned earlier, Lady Lynx Golf Club is a group of women who meet each week to play a game of nine holes of golf. A handicap is not needed to participate in our group. If interested you can complete a membership form online through the HOA website or contact Marg Stewart, president, at 520-836-7499; Karen Furu, vice president, at 520-426-4366; or Shelby Davis, secretary, at 520-444-9852. Please come join us on the golf course. You will be glad you came.
