On Jan. 13, 2020, the Robson Ranch Arizona Ladies Social Club met for lunch. Our guest speaker was Lucy Rangel, Housing Programs Manager for the Community Action Resources Agency (CAHRA). CAHRA serves all of Pinal County, with the exception of the Indian reservation. Its only office is located in Eloy.

Lucy started her presentation by explaining what CAHRA is and what it does. CAHRA is a community action program that provides assistance to those in need. Assistance includes providing food boxes, clothing, furniture, home repair, utility and rent costs, emergency assistance, diapers to those with children, and other needs. Lucy has been working with CAHRA for 19 years and is dedicated to helping those who have hit rock bottom, and don’t know where else to go for help. CAHRA partners with other agencies for funding and also relies upon donations, which often includes funds from their employee’s pockets when needed.

CAHRA also has a food pantry which distributes food boxes to those in need every 30 days, and other times when necessary. These boxes are filled with canned and fresh food, but also include items such as oil, cake mixes, flour, salt, and other supplies, so that those receiving the boxes are able to cook their own meals. Recipes are even included as part of the food box!

Lucy ended her presentation by sharing some personal success stories about people they have helped and whose lives they have impacted.

If you are interested in donating to this amazing organization or have questions, you may contact Lucy Rangel at 520-582-4462. CAHRA accepts items such as food, furniture, clothing, toiletries, and monetary donations.

The March Ladies Social Club luncheon will be held on Monday, March 9, at 11:15 a.m., in the Ranch House dining room. We welcome all ladies to join us!
