Fall is fast approaching in spite of the temperatures that still hover near the triple digits. With the winter residents that will begin to start migrating southward, it is time to return to our monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month. This month the meeting will be on September 15 in the Toltec Room or just across from the Toltec Room in the Sports Center. Our next meeting will be prior to the September Views coming out, so keep October 20 in mind for the next meeting.

The full-time resident die hards have been flying all summer, and with shorter days and cooler temps coming we will start flying a little later in the morning. For me, that is starting from 6:30 to 7:00 a.m., and we usually fly for a couple of hours. When the morning temps start dropping into the 50s it may be a little later. If the trees and flags are too friendly (waving at us) we’ll either wait for a while or until the next day. While the planes don’t care if the wind is blowing, we do!

Come join us at the field off of Harris Hawk and/or at the next meeting at the Sport Center. We welcome one and all that want to join or are just curious about the old guys and their toys out in the desert.

We have a real variety of planes ranging from one ounce gliders to planes with five foot wingspans. Some are just for boring holes in the skies and some for doing lots of aerobatics. We can answer your questions as to what model to start with and can assist you on your first flights if you so desire. We have lots of answers even if we don’t know understand the questions.

The function of the Robson RC Flyers is to have a good time with members of common interest in the hobby. Got too much spare time or just bored? Flying RC planes will get you interested in life and out of the house. Our flying field is just off of Harris Hawk and is easily accessible by car, truck or golf cart. There are three tables set up for the flyers’ use. It’s much easier putting the batteries in on the table than squatting down on the ground. Did I mention that we are some “older” guys? Younger ones are welcome as well. All Robson residents are welcome to join and fly with us. For now there isn’t even a nominal membership fee, and an AMA license is not required as we are not an AMA sanctioned field. The only restriction is that the planes must be powered by battery only. Fuel planes are not permitted.
